Epiphone "Regent 220" Acoustic Amp
60 Watt (2x30) Stereo Amplifier - Chorus - Reverb - 3 Band
EQ
The
Epiphone Regent 220 is a stereo, acoustic guitar amplifier
featuring 30 watts per side and has a unique dual-amp
design. One of the amps powers a single 8" Electar Labs
speaker while the other amp powers two, 5" inch Electar Labs
drivers. Tuned ports in the front grill expand the lower
frequencies delivering a rich, round, sound. This amp is ideal for the singing guitarist
performing in smaller venues: clubs, coffeehouses,
weddings, churches, etc.
The 2x30W amp is compact in size yet is very loud and has
great acoustic effects such as 3 band EQ, fantastic stereo
chorus, and reverb. There are two channels, each with its
own volume control, for an XLR (microphone) input, and a
1/4" instrument input with switchable Hi-Gain/Low-Gain
control. Auxiliary jacks are provided for footswitch control
of the chorus effect, and to attach an external speaker
cabinet for better stereo separation. Feedback is
well-contained by this amp's
Anti-Feedback System and its closed-back cabinet design.
This amp is capable of playing very loudly. You should have
no trouble being heard in a small venue without sound
reinforcement. At 25"w x 15"h x 10"d, this amp sits low and
wide - for the best sound reproduction on stage without a
dedicated monitor, my personal recommendation is to get an
amp riser and tilt this amp back. It makes a world of
difference.
Finally, the Regent is a stunning, vintage-looking amp with
cream Tolex covering, brass hardware, and "chicken-head"
knobs. Being a acoustic amp, it is best suited for piezo-equipped
instruments and/or microphones. Magnetic pickups can be
used, but tend to drive this amp a bit hard resulting in
higher than usual background noise. However, if you're an
acoustic player, this dual-amp unit reproduces crystalline
tones and warm vocals very faithfully.
Epiphone no longer manufactures this beautiful amp. I bought
it at closeout a couple years ago. It hasn't been used all
that much and almost looks new with no major wear marks,
scratches, dings, etc. It works perfectly. I'm getting rid
of it, because I don't play live anymore so I have no use for this amp.
